March 2020 Examinations – COVID-19 – UPDATED

by | Mar 20, 2020 | News

Covid-19 represents a serious health risk and is having profound effects on every organisation, either directly or indirectly. ABMA Education is an organisation that operates in many regions around the world, is taking governmental advice and liaising with departments and bodies across all the countries we work within to ensure decisions are taken to maximise the safeguarding of our learners and minimize disruption where possible.

We will be working tirelessly over the coming days to work towards a solution for our learners and will be speaking closely to all the centres and local authorities with which we work to reach a solution that is in the best interests of our learners.

UK, Botswana, Cameroon, Eswatini, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Uganda and Zambia

Given the Governments representing the countries listed above have taken the decision to close educational institutions for an indefinite period from this week in order to ensure we do not conflict with these announcements and in the interests of clarity, ABMA Education will be postponing our March 2020 Series of Examinations in these locations. This decision will provide clarity for learners that are unsure of how recent announcements might affect them and ensure we are in line with government actions thus far.

We are aware that the Government has taken the decision that all educational institutions should close until April 20th 2020 and that this under constant review. In light of this ABMA Education will be cancelling the March 2020 Series of Examinations. ABMA is liaising closely with centres affected and remain in touch with the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT) to ensure any actions are taken in the best interests of learners. This will remain under review as the situation develops.

We will be ensuring learners who are affected have the opportunity to sit their examinations in the next available examination series without penalty, and we will be operating flexible deadlines to ensure learners have every chance of sitting examinations as early as possible, even where they are adversely impacted by other measures outside our control that are aimed at containing, delaying or reducing the spread of the virus.

Zimbabwe

Due to the Government’s decision to shut educational institutions from Tuesday, March 24th 2020 we are advising centres to postpone their learners until the next available examination series. Learners who are affected have the opportunity to sit their examinations without penalty and we will be operating flexible deadlines to ensure learners have every chance of sitting examinations as early as possible, pending any government action aimed at further mitigating the spread of the virus. Learners should contact centres for further information.

Clearly this is a constantly changing situation and we will continue to provide updates on any actions that may have an impact on our operations in the coming months. However, we would like to assure our centres and learners that we will be doing everything possible to ensure learners’ interests are upheld and that disruption is kept to an absolute minimum. In the interim, we encourage you to email us with any queries and we shall endeavor to respond as efficiently as possible but ask you to bear with us during this busy time.

Hoping you and your families stay safe and healthy through this challenging time across the world.
