Comfort Bulangete.
I am Comfort Kulemera Bulangete, I graduated with a Diploma in Journalism and Media Studies under ABMA Education at Soche Technical College, Malawi.
I was born and bred in Malawi, I went to Mitole Primary School where I did my primary school studies before studying at Lauderdale, Nachipere and Njedza Catholic Primary Schools in Mulanje where I got selected for secondary school education at Mulanje Boma Community Day Secondary School in 2014. In 2021, I pursued a career in Journalism and Media studies at Soche Technical College and I began my career journey in 2022 as a Community Radio Reporter at Nyungwe FM, later rebranded to an Online Journalist at the AfricaBrief (an online news publication) before joining Dzimwe Community Radio Station and FM Power 101 Malawi as a News Reporter.
In 2023, I was registered and accredited locally by the Media Council of Malawi before becoming a registered member of the Media Institute for Southern Africa (MISA Malawi Chapter) in 2022 and went on to become one of the best and most prolific Reporters in Malawi, spending more time perfecting my Journalism skills, experience and competency through partnering with my colleagues who were already on the ground by joining various journalistic groupings which include the Blantyre Press Club, Association of Environmental Journalists in Malawi, Association of Sportswriters in Malawi, and the Network of Climate Journalists in Malawi.
Throughout my journalism career, I was inspired and mentored by Winston Mwale the founder and Editor in Chief at the AfricaBrief, Blessings Kanache, a journalist working for the Malawi Broadcasting Cooperation, Golden Matonga, Chairperson for MISA Malawi Chapter, Peter Mwanga, a journalist working for the Hope Channel Malawi, Steve Chilombo, a journalist working with the Malawi News Agency, just to mention but a few.
In my journalistic experience like everyone I faced both good and bad days and these helped me to develop and build a stronger career foundation for the betterment of myself and also the public, which I am saving now within the government of Malawi at the National Registration Bureau where I am currently working as an Assistant Registration Officer based at Chikwawa District Registration Office.
I can testify that ABMA Education’s comprehensive curriculum provided me with a solid foundation in the principles and practices of journalistic work and also flexibility as it was a very easy thing for me to switch off my career from a media personality into an Assistant Registration Officer, and adapt with the environment, working ethics, and values of the National Service, especially at the National Registration Bureau it was not a difficult thing.
I am dreaming of becoming the Public Relations Officer at the National Registration Bureau Headquarters, or within the government of Malawi. For me to achieve this I am planning to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communication and Cultural studies at a recognised and reputable institution of higher learning in Malawi.
