ABMA Education is going green for Global Recycling Day

We are all aware of the dramatic pictures in the media showing the results of humanity on the planet, from melting polar ice caps to plastic waste in our oceans and waterways. In the last 50 years, humans have consumed more resources than in all previous history. With the world’s resources slowly running out, we all need to look around and take action to do our bit to help combat the problem. One answer is recycling.

We currently recycle our scrap office paper and our confidential waste is shredded and then recycled into new paper products and we reuse all packaging as much as possible before recycling. We also recycle as many other waste products as possible, including our plastic waste, for example, plastic courier bags and plastic examination bags. Our printer consumables are recycled and any out-of-date electronics are donated to charities to be reused or broken down and repurposed.

We have moved from using plastic or polyester bags for promotional purposes to cotton bags, provided reusable sanitary products to our learners as part of our Period Poverty Initiative, which are easily washed and reused and are much kinder to the environment. Small changes can make a difference!

We are also looking at other ways we can recycle more in the office and to try to make our environment as green as possible. We are reviewing all our suppliers to ensure that wherever possible we use recycled and/or sustainably sourced materials. Our aim is to lead by example and to become a #RECYCLINGHERO.
