Revision Tips

Revision can seem a daunting task but if you plan your time correctly then you will find it a great deal easier. By managing your time carefully (for time management guidance click here) and following a few simple steps, you will ensure you are fully prepared for your examination.

Plan your revision as early as possible. By allocating time sooner rather than later means that you will have less to do each day.

Make a timetable, plan in revision time and stick to it.

DO NOT LEAVE YOUR REVISION UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE; you will not retain as much information as you would if you had studied over a longer period of time.

Try to stick to one subject area at a time. For example, if you are studying Public Relations and Personnel Administration, focus on one of these areas first.

Take regular breaks in you revision. Study for 20 minutes and take then take a 5 minute break. This will help you get through more material.

Revise at a time in the day that will benefit you. i.e. if you feel more awake in the morning; try to plan your study time for then.

Avoid studying late at night when you are feeling tired. It would be much more productive to get a good night sleep and start afresh the following day.

If you walk or take the bus to school, make revision cards with key information on to take with you each day.

Past papers are an excellent way of revising. Ask your college for past ABMA examination papers to practice with or you can download from here.

Above all, try not to get stressed whilst revising. By planning your time correctly, you will give yourself sufficient time for relaxation. Relaxation is crucial to effective revision but you still need to ensure you are spending the right amount of time revising.
