ABMA courses have been devised to be flexible and adaptable allowing you to access the training that is relevant to you no matter what your current level of learning or experience. Simply look below to find out the Entry Requirements for each ABMA qualification level.
Should your current training not satisfy the entry requirements for the ABMA Certificate level, the ABMA Foundation Award will give you direct entry onto ABMA Certificate level.

Certificate
A new learner applying to study any ABMA Certificate level qualification must have attained one of the following entry requirements:
- An ABMA Foundation Award
- GCSE passes in four (4) subjects at Grade A* – D, including English
- A BTEC qualification at Level 2 (totalling a minimum of 60 credits)
- A NVQ Level 2 qualification (totalling a minimum of 60 credits)
- A national or international qualification equivalent to the above
Learners who do not possess any of the above can also submit evidence of professional work experience for a minimum of one year within a job sector that is related to the subject area that the learner intends to study. Examples of evidence that ABMA will accept includes:
- Employer references detailing the learner’s duties and responsibilities
- Certificates of training/courses
Diploma
A new learner applying to study at the ABMA Diploma level must complete an ABMA Exemption Application Form complete with copies of their qualifications and/or evidence of their prior learning to substantiate their suitability to study an ABMA Diploma. As a minimum, they will be expected to have attained one of the following:
- An ABMA Certificate
- ‘A’ Level passes in two (2) subjects at Grade A* – D in related subjects, with GCSE English at Grade A* – D
- A BTEC qualification at Level 3 (totalling a minimum of 120 credits) in a related subject
- A NVQ Level 3 qualification (totalling a minimum of 120 credits) in a related subject
- A national or international qualification equivalent to the above
Learners who wish to seek exemption through prior learning can use their professional work experience as evidence, provided that this experience is a minimum of two years and situated within a job sector that is related to the subject area that the learner intends to study. The learner will be expected to have met all the learning outcomes outlined in the ABMA Certificate Level units for that specific qualification. Examples of evidence that ABMA will accept includes:
- Employer references detailing the learner’s duties and responsibilities
- Certificates of training/courses
To assist with their request, learners are encouraged to submit details of all types of training that they have had to ABMA as part of their exemption application.
Advanced Diploma
A new learner applying to study at the ABMA Advanced Diploma level must complete an ABMA Exemption Application Form complete with copies of their qualifications and/or evidence of their prior learning to substantiate their suitability to study an ABMA Advanced Diploma. As a minimum, they will be expected to have attained one of the following:
- An ABMA Diploma
- A BTEC Diploma at Level 4 in a related subject
- A corresponding NVQ Level 4 qualification in a related subject
- A national or international qualification equivalent to the above

The above entry requirements are subject to change and all student registrations are accepted at ABMA’s discretion. All exemption applications, along with any attributed fees, must be received by ABMA no later than the deadline and any exemption decision made by ABMA will be final.
